Audrey - Babysitter for Hire
Audrey is rockin' the babysitting world lately. And lovin' it. She has been patiently and prayerfully waiting for a certain family to ask her to come. Last week she was asked to spend a couple of hours at the pool with the older 2. The family is 3 girls - ages 6, 4, 6mo. They had a blast and Audrey said the girls were great. This week she was asked to stay at the house with all 3 girls for a couple of hours in the am. A bit nervous but she did great. They live nearby so she knew I was only a phone call way if she needed help with the baby. Instead I got nanny nanny nu nu text that the baby didn't take a nap and was playing with Audrey. Yes, I was totally jealous. The last night she spent 3 hours with 3 boys at the house on the end of our block.
The big test came tonight. Her Brothers!
I really wanted to attend a going away party for a friend and I wanted Tom to go too. Audrey wasn't keen on the idea until I waved $20 infront of her. Sold! (I also offered the boys $$ to behave.) I'm happy to report all was well when we arrived home. Joseph had called me and was getting nervous that it was getting dark outside. I think he just wanted a chance to talk to Momma (the friend leaving is known as Momma to the theatre kids. She is moving). Tom became a little more familiar with my SABA friends. I got to love on Momma one last time. And the kids did awesome on their own.
James had a little blood on the back of his calf but didn't even know what had happened. He was too busy showing me his new helmet skiing talent. Did you know that if you put the football helmets on your feet you can ski across the wood floor? Just a little FYI for ya'.

Grace Chapel Inn

3. If you answered yes then I have got 3 sisters I'd like you to meet.
Jane, Alice and Louise Howard. They are 3 sisters who have inherited their family home and turned it into a bed and breakfast.
That is all I am going to tell you. You will need to start reading the books to learn more. But, if you liked the Mitford Books about Fr. Tim I feel confident you will like the Grace Chapel Inn books.
Warning: the books are written by like 3-5 different authors. They wrote the series for Guidepost. It has taken some searching but I believe I have found the correct list of books in order. Start with this one and if you are interested let me know I will hook you up. If you are local so far 1-8 are at our library. I am currently on like book 5, maybe 6. I love them.

Ha! I won! I am most excited. Therese posted today that I won one of the gift certificates for Canvas4life. I am excited to get a photo for my living room wall. Ok, my fun blog friend Therese was given a wonderful opportunity to preview a photo canvas from Canvas4Life. She received a beautiful canvas of her daughter. She reports the company was very easy to work with. The website seems to be very easy to navigate. Click here to view Therese's post. I do believe I will be going through my photos to find one for my new living room walls.
What's Up!?
I was given a Kindle Fire for Mother's Day. YEA! I have tried a couple of times to get on my blog and update from there. It is not as easy as I thought it would be. But I will keep trying because I really really want to be able to update my blog more often.
We have finished up another year of school. Audrey will move on to 8th Grade. She will remain a member of the symphonic band as a trumpet player. She was in the SABA Spring production Hairspray. It was a wonderful performance and a sad one. The Spring show is when we say goodbye to the Seniors and this year we also had to say goodbye to some extremely special people who will be moving. This is a time when I am so very very thankful for Facebook. We will be able to keep up with the Shahs while they begin their new life in Hawaii.
William had a wonderful year in 4th Grade. They took a field trip to Austin in December and the last week of school they performed a little Texas play. William was Sam Houston and did a wonderful job. He moves on to 5th Grade and his last year of Elementary School.
James and Joseph completed 3rd Grade. Whew. 4th grade holds lots of new changes for them. I'm really not ready. But have faith that we will survive.
The kids and I are working and playing at Camp St. Luke this year. The preschool I work at has a fun camp Tues and Thurs for 6 weeks. The kids are having fun and I am working my butt off. Little more active than I thought I'd be. But it's fun too.
Oh, and lets see, home improvements, anything new, Heck YEA! FLOORS!! Beautiful, real, solid, no chipping, no yucky, beautiful floors! I can say that except for some minor finishings here and there the Terminal Living Room/Office remodel is Complete! I am always up for redoing, improving, changing, but this one has lasted way way way too long. Right now the only changes I want to make is hanging stuff on the walls.
Still getting things put here and there bu isn't it beautiful!?

Abby!
Later Audrey was also very excited to findout We Got a Dog for Easter!
She is beagle/dachsund/heeler/collie...... She is the pup born to the little beagle/dachsund looking dog that wondered up to my friends house a couple of years ago. The heeler/collie mix down the road got in with buttercup and voila puppies.
Abby has a crate in the house she sleeps in and learned quite quickly that whining and barking wouldn't get her out til morning.
Grandpa(my daddy)brought in some fence panels and made her a kennel in the backyard.
She is precious and we love having her in the family.
Big Test Week
This week is STAAR test week. I am a high I personality which means don't ask me what STAAR stands for. I'm sure I've been told but, my personality requires me not to remember. It is a state test that is used for advancement to the next grade. Has been known as TAKS test in the past this year changed to STAAR and doesn't 'count' the first year.
Anyway, there is a list of rules/suggestions for a successful test day. Good breakfast, early to bed, comfy clothes, review test strategies, calm household, positive attitude.....you get the idea. WELL, the pressure is just too much for some families. Mine. Here is the post I put on Facebook last night.
What is your Successful STAAR week strategy? What to hear ours? The day before test have a quick run to Pedi office to confirm James doesn't have chickenpox. Math Test morning chunck a large game dice at your twins head. Evening before Reading test have 12yr old use toaster oven directions to make 9 bagel bites in microwave. So that when you come in from backyard your husband is yelling FIRE in the kitchen and you see a huge cloud of smoke bellowing from the microwave. (that your daughter set for 14 minutes to make 9 bagelbites). So that's our plan to ace the reading test. What's yours? :)
What is not included is the fact I had my eyes dilated yesterday afternoon, and had a headache. Was making these fancy hogie type sandwiches for a luncheon at school the next day (luckily sandwiches made before smoke incident)
Then this morning on the way out the door Joseph gives the door a hardy push as he runs out and doesn't realize how close James is behind him. So this morning James goes to school with a wet cloth on his eye where he got caught by the door.
I say prayers for them all the way home after dropping them off. This afternoon after school James' teacher calls and tells me she is so very proud of him. He was extremely focused on the test, he read stories twice (today was reading, yesterday was math), did all the things he was taught to find the correct answer. TAKS wasn't timed, STAAR is. They had 4 hours. On the practice test(benchmarks) James rushed and was almost always the first one to turn in and tried to turn in test after only about 20 minutes. Today his teacher started to wonder if he was going to run out of time! He made it with about 15min to spare.
I like to think that our unique form of pretest preparation is what did it but, I'll have to consider that perhaps the promise of a GameDay on Friday was what did it. He got in the car and began talking about the board game he wants to take on Friday. The first thing he did when he got home was climb in the top of his closet to get it down.
So if you have STAAR or TAKS or some form of a statewide test to determine Achievement. Big Hugs and Many Blessings and God be with you. I am so glad we are DONE til next spring. :)

Well how did the living room come out?
Well, if you have been checking back wondering where I went....well, William got sick, then Joseph was sick. William stayed home on Wednesday with the painter. It was fun when I was asked at school "Who is staying with William?" I'd answer "With JD the painter." Don't you leave your kids home with the painter when their sick?
Anyway, when Joseph woke sick on Thursday I decided I'd better stay home with him. It worked well for me. I was able to match up the paint in the dining room to match the addition. It's complicated to explain and I don't have pictures. But when we extended a wall in the living room it also extended a wall in the dining room. That portion needed to be matched to the rest of the stucco/tuscan modpodge that JJ and I did like, 5 years ago!. But it turned out well I'm happy to say.
All we need now is new flooring and I do believe we will have a completion! Tom needs to put the faces on the drawers in the shelving unit but I believe he will get to that soon.

The twins had a blast Wednesday evening when we returned from the K-6th grade presentation of the Stations of the Cross at church. They scattered all the Easter Eggs in the front yard and had fun.

It's FRIDAY!!!!
I...am....SOOOO....Excited! Yesterday I couldn't stop talking and chatting and talking and waving my hands and bouncing and talking.....
I AM GETTING THE LIVING ROOM PAINTED!!! Does that excite you? If you have followed the terminal living room make over that has been going on in my home for ??? years (so long I lost count) then you know why I am soooo excited.
We have a busy busy weekend ahead of us. Empty out living room, find places to stash furniture. Hopefully get flooring lined up so that could possibly, hopefully, by the Grace of God, get done by Easter too.
I really, really, really, want to get those little skinny branches/sampling thingys cut off the big branches of the pecan trees before they start leafing out.
I want to play with my new leaf blower I purchased with the $$ I got from my Daddy for my birthday.
Plant green beans, and a few more flower seeds.
AND!!!! plant! my LILAC BUSHES!!!!
I am sooooo excited! When I was at Lowes to get the leafblower I happened down a little short aisle, at the front of the store that I never go down because it is in a weird spot. Anyway, I wandered around thinking of something else then was on that aisle.
Then as if a heavenly moment the Heavens opened up and bright light shown down and angels sang and I gasped and before me all alone sitting in a Lowe's basket just waiting to be pushed out to my car was a beautiful Lilac Bush!
I found where it's friends were in the garden area and picked up 2 more. 2 for me 1 for my Mommy. I would have gotten 1 for my Sis too if I was smart enough (and probably have to be rich enough) to ship it to her.
We had huge beautiful ones growing in our backyard growing up. Daddy decided to build a new, nice, two car garage and put it where the old barn was. Great, no big, the barn is several several feet from the back fence. Mom, Beth, and I had no idea we would come home one day and our bushes would be GONE!!! I think he knew a coo would be launched and we'd chain ourselves to the bushes if we had known.
SO! almost 30 years later I HAVE a Lilac Bush. Two Lilac Bushes.
Please pray to Jesus, Mary, all the saints related to gardens, yards, flowers, bushes, and black thumbed gardener wanna bes, that I am successful at getting these guys established.
Well, it's about time to brush teeth, gather kiddos, and head to our various schools.

Why I drink WINE!
*My feet don't hurt after a long hike in Lost Maples State Park soon followed by a full day of preschool.
*Sadness that possible contractor for Living Room Done project had to cancel - is dulled.
*That joyfull feeling of Flop I could sleep on my Desk feeling.
*The ability to not over think photo editing and coming out with some cool stuff.
*hopefully the ability to sleep through the night with no weird dreams or worries.
*Nothing hurts......tonight anyway.
BOOOOOOO of drinking wine.
*tomorrow at preschool would stink if not for the fact it is a tuesday and a few classes (The M-W-F classes) won't be there and there are leftover cheeseballs.
*cheeseballs - preschool floater Amy's substitute for wine. :)

*lack of ablility to ramble at husband and make him aware of fact that 'yes, I polished off the WHOLE bottle."
Why polish off the whole bottle - I don't want it to go bad. I might not drink wine again for several days and it would go bad and waste good $$ not to mention good wine. :) Thank you secret sister at work.

Tuesday the boys stay after school for reading tutoring. I pick them up at 3:45 and have to get them to SABA for 4:00 tap class. They put their shoes on in the car on the way. Joseph was the first into the car this week. "How was your day? Great. Get a drink and get your shoes on." "Here's this mom. I've got this. Where's my drink. Can you get my shoes. Oh here they are. Can you take the knot out?" "Oi Vey! Joseph, slow down."
"E-bay Mom, I can't."
HA! Now that's funny right there.

Ash Wednesday
So I'm a bit late. Sorry. Yesterday's reading Joel chapter 2 was great.
Joel 2:12 Even now, says the Lord, return to me with your whole heart, with fasting, and weeping, and mourning.

Fat Tuesday!
Tom and I visited New Orleans lasts year for our 15th Anniversary in January. We had a wonderful time eating and sightseeing and eating and meeting interesting people and listening to great music and did I mention eating. Tom treated me to some wonderful restaurants. :)
Enjoy today. And get ready to begin your Lenten celebration. Celebration? Yes! Lent is a wonderful time to get it together. New Years resolutions never work for me. Lenten reflection, soul searching, journaling, that does it. Go out into the dessert with our Lord. Listen to him. Fast. Augh! Fasting is a bunion on my foot. It hurts. It's hard to deal with. I work very hard and suppressing it. Identify your bunion. Embrace your bunion. Let's work together to overcome those things that stand in the way of getting us closer to God.
