This weekend my friends and neighbors have been mourning the loss of a friend. Wendy Whitehead, a 39 year old mother of two girls ages 9 & 6 was killed by a foul ball at a baseball game. We have a city baseball team the Colts. Wendy and her husband had just gotten to the game and had been there about 15 minutes. A foul ball came across the stands at the 3rd base line and struck Wendy in the head. She was declared brain dead at the hospital. Those close to her, her family, the spectators at the game, the players, the town, are all shaken by this.
Wendy was the president of our parent organization at the elementary school, this past year. She is active in fund raisers for various organizations. She was a fun out going person.
She was an organ donor. It is nice to know that many families will be touched by her death.
So. Remember to sign that organ donor card. Hug your loved ones and remember to enjoy every day, every moment.

I went to high school with Wendy, and although we had lost touch over the years, we were VERY close back then. I just saw her at our 20th reunion, and she was as sweet and beautiful as ever.
Wendy was always the girl who knew the coolest music first, was friends with all the guys, knew where every party or social event would be every weekend, and had a diverse group of friends. She fit in and had deep friendships with people in the creative/artsy crowd, as well as the popular jock/cheerleader "popular" crowd. and everyone in between.
There are heavy hearts here in her hometown, and all over the country where her many friends reside. To say she will be missed is an understatement.
